Strengthening the Peer Support Canada &
Canadian Mental Health Association Partnership
Over the past several years, Peer Support Canada (PSC) and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) have continued to deepen our shared commitment to strengthening mental health supports across the country. Today, we’re pleased to share an update about our ongoing relationship and the opportunities ahead.
Peer Support Canada will maintain its unique lived experience–led foundation, continuing to uphold the autonomy, identity, and core values that the peer support community relies on. At the same time, PSC will continue to operate as an entity within CMHA National. This structure allows PSC to stay grounded in lived experience leadership while also accessing the capacity, stability, and visibility needed to strengthen and expand peer support across Canada. As highlighted in our 2025 progress report, PSC has been able to deliver on its strategic plan while operating as an entity of CMHA, and we will continue to build on this success in the years ahead.
Through this alignment, PSC can expand its capacity to grow and sustain national programming, enhance the quality and visibility of peer support, and pursue new opportunities for joint funding, partnerships, and sector leadership – all while ensuring the voice of lived and living experiences are central to this work. It also allows PSC to better support CMHA branches that are delivering peer support services by offering guidance, standards, and best practices. Together, this collaboration positions both organizations to more effectively champion peer support as a vital part of community mental health across Canada.
